Device Requirements
Facilitators and participants can utilise Salt on a wide range of devices such as laptop/PCs, tablets and smartphones. Since Salt is browser-based, it can typically run on any modern device which has:
- An up-to-date browser
- A microphone
If you are using a company-owned device, you may find that your device meets our requirements but still cannot run Salt. See our Guide for corporate deployment for further information.
See below for specifications.
Browsers
For all browsers, Salt supports the two latest versions. Most browsers update automatically so you should have the latest version already - but you may want to check!
Supported browsers include:
- Microsoft Edge
- Google Chrome
- Firefox
- Safari
System Requirements for Facilitators and Participants
Permissions
When starting or joining a session, your browser will request permission to use your device's microphone and camera. For Salt to provide relevant insights, you must allow it the permission to microphone. If you are using the video call mode, the camera permissions are required for other participants to see you.
Operating Systems
Since Salt is browser-based, it is compatible with any operating system as long as it's able to run the latest version of your chosen browser. The oldest operating laptop/PC systems you can use are:
- Windows: Windows 7 and later
- Mac: MacOS 10.11 and later
- Linux: Any x64 based system
Internet Connection
Each device must have an internet connection which is stable enough to hold a video call. Generally, video conferencing requires a network bandwidth of at least 3.2 Mbps upload and 3.2 Mbps download - most Wi-Fi network are capable of this.
